Time up!

Time up! We have heard this phrase lot of times in our life. It shows that we are allowed to do a work or anything within a stipulated time. It reminds us that the time which is allowed for us to do a work is over. It is a reminder that we have to stop the action that we are doing when the time limit has been reached with or without any countdowns.

But we often tend to go beyond this stipulated time and continue our action even after that. For example, a teacher says "Time up" at the end of a test, meaning that the test is over, put down your pens. But we often tend to write even after the exam bell gets over or after the reminder of the professor, “Time up”. After the morning alarm, with half sleep we tend to sleep at least for five minutes more. Thus we extend the alarm for five more minutes and it rings each five minutes at regular intervals.  And it goes on. We also have the tendency to postpone today’s work for tomorrow. And we take the most convenient decision that “I will do it tomorrow”. Procrastination is a villain in many of our lives. Once I happened to read a very interesting phrase on a noble man’s T-Shirt. It was written like this; “I am not lazy but I am motivationally challenged”. We even justify our laziness with our reasonable and convincing affirmations. Vibrant fellows!

Of course this phrase “Time up” always reminds us to complete our tasks within a given time. Also it can be a euphemism for death or anything coming to an end. Let us try to do our works on time because there will be a time when God will say us “Time up” and no more minutes will be given for us.
