Love Is A Sacrifice!A Poem by John Pulickal OICLOVE IS A SACRIFICE! Once
I asked a rose flower, what is love? It said to me “love
is beauty” And it smiled at me
sweetly Then it fell down. Days and days
passed I asked the cloud,
what is love? It said to me “love
is service” And it started to
rain gently Then it became
fragile. Days and days
passed I asked a stream,
what is love? It said to me “love
is cheering” And it caressed me
smoothly Then it retreated. Days and days
passed I asked a bird,
what is love? It said to me “love
is music” And it sang a song
nicely Then it flew away. Days and days
passed I asked a tree,
what is love? It said to me “love
is sharing” And it gave a sweet
fruit immediately Then it stood fruitless. Days and days
passed I asked the breeze,
what is love? It said to me “love
is caring” And it surrounded
me gently Then it
disappeared. Days and days
passed I asked the earth,
what is love? It said to me,
“love is bearing” And it gave me land
abundantly Then it moved on. Days and days
passed I asked everyone
and everything What is everlasting
love? Answer was ‘‘dead
silence’’ My heart remained
dissatisfied. Years and years
passed I asked a noble man,
what is love? He said
to me “No one has greater love than this, To lay
down one’s life for one’s friends” And he
walked with me lovely and friendly Then he
died on the cross! © 2013 John Pulickal OIC |
