Among The DunesA Poem by John P.This is a song I wrote some time ago, but I feel as if it works as a poem as well. It's sort of an Indiana Jones-like story, and it leaves a lot up to imagination.
Philosophers fill the floor to fall about their fate
Persecutors on the case are inbound, viscious and irate The loot is canned, they claimed the land beneath the shifting sand High upon the arc they stand with sleight of hand and a marching band Among the dunes High upon the parapet, the baphomet stands guard Lost within the alphabet, the victim feels the stainless shard The metal penetrates the spine and stops him in his track Lifeless on the cobblestone with symbolism in his back Among the dunes Hell bent on establishing a certain dominance Ascending the balcony, the infiltrator takes his stance The torch on the wall sheds a chink of light upon the insolence The mortal man overruled his ban and towered on his confidence Among the dunes The mist that once was light and bright is now a darkened haze The density of the fractured sun illuminates a raging gaze The air has amplified the glare emitted from the fear Medieval gear without an heir abandoned in the putrid lair Among the dunes © 2015 John P. |
