Music. Click. Scroll. Playlists. Click. Scroll. Alex’s Playlists. Click. The Mp3 player was firmly in my hand, its screen reflecting my sad image. From where I stood, I was able to see the mountain. Large as it was, compared to the surrounding area, it gave off a small feeling of joy. Before the mountain lay the town. There, I’m familiar with some of those faces that look so different, yet almost all of them appear identical. The girls are always trying their hardest to dress themselves while bearing those obnoxiously huge sunglasses and fake sprayed on tans. The boys trying their hardest to fit in with what athletic team their on or learning guitar to get laid. Trying so hard to do everything they can for their selfish impulses, but all of them elegantly carry their trendy fashions and smiles painted with smug. I can hear them laughing and gossiping now, they are the same shape of their parents, little clones of the previous generation. To be honest, nothing really changes for the better. I’ll cut it short and tell you what I want to tell you. I don’t lie too much, sometimes I can‘t help myself, but I do exaggerate the truth from time to time. My name is Alexander Fitzgerald and I am the true, “Son of the Suburbs”. I am very much like the slaves below the mountain; I try hard at what I do. I’m too stubborn to recognize or identify with the way society told me to be. I am the epitome of hypocrisy and insanity of a gated community. The insanity of an urban world. Here, in Scottsdale, Arizona, where golf and silicone breasts regulate the hours of the day, I feel that I am cast out. I don’t mind believe me, I really don’t, when you feel alone you begin to like it. I won’t bore you with my whining I’ll just keep it simple, only of course if you’re willing to let me tell you what I have to say. © 2010 Johnny MonroeAuthor's Note
