Why

Why

A Poem by John M. Wills
"

In response to school shootings.

"

9-1-1 call can’t be true

Children hurt, teachers too

Blue line response dozens of cruisers

Each one intent on stopping the shooters

Exploding through doors

Adrenaline pours

Check left and right

Guns are drawn ready to fight

Each room a fright

A horrible sight

Scattered like dolls, others fled

Precious babies awash in red

Sights and sounds like never before

Responders work despite heartsore

Memories now indelibly etched

Nighttime horrors forever entrenched

Why?

This is really good. I like how you ended it in question - why? That was clever!

you really nailed it. it's so true and sad what you say. it's just incomprehensible that somebody would do something horrible as this.
Nicely penned :)

Oh my gosh that is sad. It is my nightmare that someone will come to our school and attack us. I wonder why too. This is a great poem, it really makes you feel.

It's reality anymore, and gun free zones invite shooters.
