Fate's Accident

For a contest which must begin: My First Taste of Human Flesh Was Accidental.

"

My first taste of human flesh was accidental.

It was dark, you were close to me. I still remember how heavy the air was after the rain washed away the dry heat from the afternoon. We were laying on our backs gazing up at the skies. The clouds slowly shifted across the night sky as the moon occasionally peaked through, casting dancing shadows on the arbor trees surrounding the park. I could see your smile as you turned to look at me and whisper the latest fleeting thought darting through your adolescent mind.

I was hesitant, nervous to make the first step; paralyzed by fear and inaction. I knew what I wanted but had too many thoughts racing through my own head. What if she pulls away? What if she doesn't like me? What if she tells everyone at school?

I moved my hand inch my inch across the blanket closer to yours hoping to feel your arm press against mine and give me the slightest impetus to bring myself even closer to you. It took me thirty minutes to assuage the butterflies flapping around inside my stomach, churning within my mind, draining my soul of energy.

I stared at you. Your eyes were dark. The moon was behind the clouds and I couldn't quite make out the big brown eyes peering back at me. I laughed at the last thing you said as I leaned forward to say something. At the same time you attempted to prop yourself up to move closer to me. Our lips met awkwardly, as if it were what we actually intended. Fate took over that night. I will never forget that first kiss.

Where are you now? I hope he treats you well. You meant the world to me. The kiss will never be forgotten. I loved you. We all love our first kiss. Truly, madly, deeply.
