Love I Could Skip

Today's a day spent wishing tomorrow never comes
Doesn't happen all the time but sometimes it does
Angry thoughts cloud my mind bringing me down
I've spent most my life with my face wearing a frown
You would think that after all this time I would learn
Instead each day I give life and love another turn
Life never is really all that bad but love I could skip
Nothing like feeling that you're under a verbal whip
Sometimes maybe it’s me, then again maybe it’s not
The real problem has long since been forgot
A simple conversation becomes a battle of words
We're wielding vowels and constants like swords
Who can cut deeper or make the other hurt the most
Either way the relationship is soon to be toast
No apologies, no quarter given, we're so right
But we are wrong when seen in a different light
Yet in our wise and hateful and wasteful ways
Neither really hears what the other one says
Emotions rise high wreaking havoc as they climb
Disdain, contempt, and resentment become entwined
We can never take back the words we've said
Makes me wish that my feelings were dead

This is a really well written poem, excellent rhyming.
Yes, sometimes a person can't help if love is really worth it. Relationships are
hard work, you gotta love the person no matter what and they need to do
the same. I do understand what your saying in this poem as well as the feelings within it. I enjoyed reading this very well crated poem.

Relationships are indeed work. Trick is figuring out when it goes from work to a futile attempt to keep something alive that has already died.
