A field in FranceA Story by John~DRememberance day...A blanket of green stretches out before me that blends into a rich blue sky. White clouds dance as though they were a flock of lambs. The sun shines as I soak up its warmth through my body. “Ah, life feels good today.” I look into the
distance at the grassy floor that rolls and dips. Trees huddle together as though trying to keep warm on a winter’s
night. Here and there are scatted
flowers the sent of which fills my head. Above me, a lark
sings its merry song and my mind wonders back to those days long ago. But now, in this calmness, I feel at peace
with the land and I think of Eden. A gentle breeze softly
drifts across the fields and a single red Poppy bows its head in remembrance…
