HAS HE GONE?

HAS HE GONE?

A Story by John~D
"

ABUSE...

"

I feel the sense of relief fill within me. He has gone!

No more will I endure his ways. He has gone!
I'm safe to walk freely . . . has he gone?

In the night when darkness fills my room, I quietly sit.
My mind wonders, the thoughts of ‘him’ fills my darken rooms.  Has he gone?

Running a bath, I try to rid myself of the dirty feeling creeping over my body. With a frenzy, I scrub until my flesh turns red.
I can rid the dirt, but I can not clear my mind.  Has he gone?

It’s late, and I find myself in my bedroom — ‘the room!’  I stare at my bed — ‘the bed!’  They told me of flashbacks.  Has he gone?

Lying down, I pull the covers over me.  Gripping them tightly, I look at the door.  Has he gone?

With the small lamp on, I slowly — fall asleep.

I awake to a noise at my door, I start to shake. I here the turning of the catch, I shut my eyes tightly. The door opens. I grasp the covers tight with my sweating hands as his footsteps grow louder with each pace.  My heart pounds faster within my small frail body.  I feel myself want to scream — but I dare'nt make a sound. I want to run, to hide, to escape, but I can't move.  I hear him breathing, deep heavy breaths.  The noise intensifies as he draws closer.  I feel his breath on my face.  I smell the drink.  He is here!

The covers start to move, as inch, by inch, I’m exposed.  I start to shake uncontrollably, as tears roll down my face . . . I pray for an end!

Then, I’m awake! With a funny laugh, I look around my room . . . nothing, nobody . . . it was just a dream.  But my nightmares have begun . . . he hasn’t gone!
