The weight on our shoulders

The weight on our shoulders

A Poem by Wyrn Tiger

Trapped beneath the weight of a thousand rocks, pressed by laughter and fails. Save me from the avalanche, so cold, dark and suffocating. We need help from the darkness and the light is blinding. Both prevent us from seeing our goals. Their laughter is the light, so blinding and fierce. The ones who say we are not are the dark, meant to keep us from shining they quench our fire and bask in the eternal darkness. We can not shine in both, we can not live in ether. It's our curse, our word, our mirror to see but not achieve, but we can shatter it. Gather the pieces and make our dream. Reflect the horrid light to quench the suffocating darkness. Make the shovel to dig us out of the avalanche. No more suffocating in hate, no more taking lies. Their words are their downfall and our power.

I really like your word choice. I think this would be a poem instead of a story, and I’ve always thought poetry comes across better with line breaks in more of a poetry format, but I enjoyed this.

I like the analogies used between light and darkness and the metaphor of being buried.

It is thought provoking and there is a lot to analyze!

Thank you and I have changed it from a story to a poem.
