Lost Child

Lost Child

A Poem by Johee Poetry

A child's mind with so much confusion

No one thought this would be his conclusion

Mommy on the floor crying as she holds his favorite teddy bear

The whole family was there

The boy leaving his mom; He wouldn't dare

Daddy is standing with big dark shades

Fake smirks start to fade

Daddy now regrets every minute for not being home

All he cared for was his career

His career was traveling all over the world

An NBA coach only wondering if his team won

He never thought about his son

Consideration got the best of him

In the end nobody wins

Mommy knew this wasn't the life she wanted

Money was not important to her

She found numbers in his pocket, so she had it

Still, in back of daddy's mind he knew the decisions he made lead to this

The only thing the boy wanted was his father back home

He felt so alone

The only thing that gave him hope was a lousy phone call

But he began to fall

Drugs became a part of the boy's life

His bad temper gave mommy a bad sign

Everything was getting out of line

Violence was his way letting it all go

As a young teen, this is all he would know

Its amazing how a father's career can affect the whole family

Everything starts to break away slowly

Young happy boy, overdosed himself as a young teen

A way to block the sadness he felt

His mother tried to get him help

But it was too late

Nobody knew who to blame

Its just another lesson learned in life

We all have to live, learn and find time

For what is really important in our lives…
