thoughts - sitting at the beach

thoughts - sitting at the beach

A Poem by Abby
"

~~~
"
before you can reach the soft fine sand that relaxes beneath the waves
you have to
climb over the rocks that sit heavy
on the edges of the shore.
some of you will scrape yourselves on the barnacles.
others will hop from one obstacle to another, getting by without a scar.
few will wait for the tide to go out and walk in easily over the harsh defenses,
sink their toes into the mushy floor
patient and untouched.
everyone can make it to the soft sand,
but no one can swim against the current
waving in the wind
pushing an entire ocean in and out
without a thought for you.
Aloha Abby, as a person who feels great kinship with the sea I enjoyed this. Following your thoughts. There is a lovely mood of acceptance in your words. Izzy
