The Beauty In Sunken EyeA Poem by Joe GibsonEnjoyThe Beauty In Sunken Eyes Paint your painless pictures a monochromatic pastel on a skin canvas blades your dreaded brush veins your borders scribble like in youth my love just please don’t color outside the lines take your caricatures and cast your brush sharpen your pencils smudge your sharpie marks get out your rulers, and draw just please don’t color outside the lines I know I have no say about your crumbled pictures how they speak to me like a vivid constellation but we all know those stars are dead much like the fire that keeps your borders slowly fading to embers soon the canvas will be a blank page just please don’t color outside the lines I’ll bear the weight of the world on my steadied shoulders I’ll fight the gravity moon sun stars world and all the ridicule that comes with it so take my clean wrists and draw draw until you feel whole draw until your fire combusts draw until the canvas is full leave me with a beautiful masterpiece just please color outside the lines so your drawing never fades and I’ll be your still life forever © 2014 Joe Gibson |
