Imminent

Imminent

A Poem by Joe Gibson
"

was asked if i'd rather know when I died or not know when I died. The exercise was to describe your choice in how you would change your perspective, so I came up with this

"
Imminent
A gift wrapped in rusty barbed wire, hastily opened
the forbidden curse of fore seeing one's end
a tribute only bestowed upon the soulless vessels
the card along with it, written in rustic blood, coaxed in sins
once opened the sinister knowledge can not be suppressed
acceptance in the crimson tide leads the mind astray
the boy's feet peaked over the summit of the hotel
nine stories high, with the unwrapped gift in his dark hoodie
clenching his fist to his heart, one tear emanated from his dreary eyes
the boy leaped in valor.
