A Lament

A Lament

A Poem by Joey Chimes
"

Kinda personal and emotional, wrote it when I was super sad and I'm not sure how I feel about it.

"

Though the winter has been mild thus far,

I fear the worst has yet to come, my brother,

For there are murmurs amongst the shadows

Of storm, dark and cold"fear stirs within.

This Thanksgiving may have been the first of many days

In which you and I are those few beacons of light,

Those who have the most to be thankful for,

As our family faces the murderous storm of fate.

Yet our thanks may not be everlastingly given,

The shadows"to me they speak as well

And, no matter where I may hide,

I cannot find shelter from my vices.

Oh, dear brother, please save me,

For I see mere darkness ahead.
