Heart of stone

Heart of stone

A Poem by joey

Pounding heart

slowing down

as it becomes encased in stone

No longer beating

no longer feeling

sits upon its unyielding throne

Lost aspirations

disconnected thoughts

the muted heartbeat lost its grandeur

Locked away

forever untouched

cloaked within its perfect armor

Sweet melody

entrancing sound

evanescent behind the earthen veil

Broken heart

held together

by its own enrapturing jail

Scream concealed

the cry is covered up

no one can hear the wailing heart

And not until

I see you again

can that prison begin to fall apart

Oh, Joey - such a lovely, passionate, romantic, aching poem!

It was a lovely poem the whole time, but the last stanza gave it some depth, specified what you were writing about. Very clever. It's true, what you say. It's true.

I love it! You portrayed the way this person feels when the other person isn't around extraordinarily well. Keep writing!
