Seven Deadly Sins

Seven Deadly Sins

A Poem by joewade

If you explicate this poetry, you will find all seven deadly sins comitted by both the writer, and the reader(judger) either in abstract form at the least. So read at your own peril, and pray later.

Seven Deadly Sins

By Joe Wade

Proud is a word which brings the greedy rage

Of lusting thrusts"a hurried howling hand,

a mind on fire to burn a simple poor page

Without a care for clock or dire demand.

If black on whiteness, words are written right,

And grow tall, a timeless tale of master minds,

The sanity of failing measure’s might

Is shatter’d; envy grows and never ends.

A prouder soul of wanton lust, judges

With greed of better work and doesn’t tell

The anger hidden, while another makes

Opinions known, and never cares a fellow fell.

All judges desire spotless perfection,

And envy holds the glass of reflection.

I love the line "a mind on fire to burn a simple poor page." After years as an English major I can't help but appreciate the thought, because we are quite cruel to poor bits of writing and tear them apart. Very clever idea and quite well executed; I had to go through and find all seven sins after I read it through the first time.
