Tears of the wildA Poem by Joe MorrisA poem detailing how humanity is not that different from the animal kingdom. We are nothing on the jungle floor, Slaves to the tigers might. Not given a chance to rise, rich from poor, Servants to the vultures, high flyers, in flight.
Our own kinds touch our only asset, Prey to those whose whim it is to crush. My life simple, meaningless, yet I bear only one regret. I never said my piece.
Shout! Shout now! Let them hear we are not afraid! Let them fear our tears as they make a stream that washes away their hate!
We are the prey, yes. Yet without us there is no them. Let their spit, profanity and injustice fail, Brush off their vile phlegm.
We are all so significant every man woman and child, Let the haters flee from us now. Us and the tears of the wild. © 2012 Joe MorrisAuthor's Note
