Just A Friend

Just A Friend

A Poem by Miss Chriss

"Just a friend," he said,
You're like one of the guys.
I'm not afraid to tell you secrets,
or let you see me cry.

"Just like a sister," he said,
like one I never had.
I love you like you're my family,
but nothing more than that.

She's tired of hearing about the games,
and how good the date went last night.
She observes his masculine features,
and the tears start to fly.

She never gets the chance,
to show her girlfriend spark.
The woman he would fall for,
The woman to mend his heart.

The woman who cares unconditionally,
taking time noticing small things.
Will she ever be lucky enough,
to receive that special ring?

She longs to be wanted,
and only wanted by him.
But, he said all she'll ever be,
is a friend, a sister, his kin.

She lives to feel happy and whole.
Why doesn't she ever get the chance?
What does she have to do,
to even get a second glance?

She doesn't believe she's ugly.
It's probably the thickness to her skin.
Her eyes and smile make her pretty,
but she's beautiful within.

"Just a friend," he said.
Yeah, she's heard that before.
There goes another chance,
Just thrown out the door.

Oh man that does hurt when you love someone and they see you as just a friend... I understand that pain as well... great poem, expression of true feelings... I can feel your pain.
