Life

Life

A Poem by Joey Wilson
"

This is the way I feel about the way life goes.

"

As we fall far from the edge, we now realize,
that no matter how long we fight, we will never get the prize.
The prize of acceptance by our peers,
instead, now we can't stop the gears.
The gears of war that stay constantly turning,
the gears that cause constant mourning.
The cost is their lives, the losses are the ones we love,
we still ask the question, “Why?” to the Lord above.
I don't understand the need for people to lie,
for as everyone knows...lying leads someone to die.
The darkness inside prevents the good from appearing,
but certain people want the dark to start disappearing.
As I lay down to sleep, I start to dream,
and wonder if life starts to tear at the seam.
I know that life can be rough,
and things seem like they are getting tough,
but remember this...I don't want you to leave me
especially when its hard for me to see.
I've wandered these roads aimlessly for far too long,
trying and straining to hear the angels song.
I've wanted to make it all right as rain,
but all I can do is watch as my hopes are slain.
I wish I could change things that are in my past,
to make the time we reach for last.
