Gateway Eyes

Gateway Eyes

A Poem by A Foiled Soul
"

They say eyes are gateway to the soul.

"
When I first gazed,
Upon your eyes,

I saw within,
Nothing but lies,

Yet still I held on,
To the hope inside,

Even though,
I nearly died,

The way you used me,
Hurt so deep,

But near my heart,
Is where you sleep,

Yet you say you love me,
I know not how,

When I see you with another,
I form such a scowl,

My heart sinks deep,
My soul shatters so,

All you can say is,
Oh, please, no,

But it is too late,
The deed is done,

The blood has been shed,
The race has begun,

You truly love,
Is this so?

Let's hope you can find me,
Before I go,

The world is fading,
So much has been lost,

Why does your love,
Come at such a cost,

Yet I open my eyes,
And realize now,

I am alive,
I know not how,

Your face is the one,
The greets me so,

So why do I feel,
I still need to go?

Love is a cruel mistress. I think this poem speaks for anyone who's experienced her ugly side. Enjoyed this one.
