OmittedA Poem by Jodie NgIt’s when smiles surface
and the wind carries my worries,
My mind in the midst of a rippling, folding ocean. It’s when the universe colours the world with a sunset, And my heart calm with the harmony of the birds.
But it is these moments where my eyes are lit Lit with darkness amongst majestic moments. The wind falls, worries return, oceans to angry tsunamis Sunsets to a black angry canvas, harmony into noise
Why? Why? I have forgotten…
Nightmarish realities still so vivid, they’re scars on my skin, Scars that burn and scars that sting, They’re the rats that make all dirty, make all ugly, But I still forget.
It’s not the agonizing punches and kick " that I can take It’s the overwhelming tide of guilt that encompasses my being. I become an empty vessel as I’m reminded of lost treasure. The secret key to the wings of an angel
Shoo! Shoo! I shall escape
Now it’s the smiles that surface on gloomy days, My mind in the midst of rush hour, It’s when thunder and lightening dull the world A silent harmony, an eternally elusive escape.
Escaping accumulated conversions from pain to anguish Anguish that soon become tears becoming rainstorms A door clasped tight, locked within Memories that slowly extinguish the fire, the heat all around I have forgotten you.
