THE HOUSE SITTING CASE

Puppy was so busy working on her paper that she didn’t notice when her mother walked into her bedroom and asked what she was up to

Mom! You almost scared the fur off of me! She cried out. Puppy’s mom tried not to laugh as she answered her

Oh I’m sorry sweetie I called out to you but you were working so hard that you didn’t hear me walk in. what are you working on? She asked

Oh Vicky’s parents are going away this weekend to visit her aunt. And Vicky will be staying over at Daisy’s house until they get back. And since the house will be left alone we came up with the idea and asked her parents to hire the we always catch our crooks club to watch over it until they return Puppy explained

Protect it from what? Puppy’s mom asked

Burglars duh! Puppy smirked

I see don’t you think you kids are being a bit extreme? I mean this is a pretty safe neighborhood and they won’t be gone that long her mom answered

No not when you just got a new toy box you don’t you wouldn’t want to take any chances of it getting stolen Puppy added

Oh now I understand well of course not! Her mom laughed

Any way we’re only going to charge them 5 bucks a day plus experiences. Vicky asked me to make a list of stuff we’re going to need so they can buy it for us before they go Puppy began

Oh can I see this list or is it a secret only member can see it thing? Her mom smiled

Whatever mom Puppy sighed I hate it when she tries to funny she thought herself as she handed her mom the list she was working on

Oh wow! Puppy that’s some list you got there her mom said after reading it are you sure that you’re going to use all this stuff

Of course if we’re going to be on the case day and night Puppy frowned

Pepper spray? What do you need that for? Her mom frowned

Just in case we need to give a nasty burglar a little spice Puppy laughed

I see well I hope that doesn’t happen okay sweetie I’ll let you get back to work. Good luck! Her mom answered then gave her a little kiss before she walked out of her room

Two days later Vicky’s patents left on their trip and the gang decided to split their protection duties into two

groups. The girls got the night shift since Daisy lived right next door. And the boys took the days

On their first nights the girls were sharing a box of meaty bones

Hey I’ve an idea why don’t we take turns I’ll take the first watch while you two take a nap. Then it will be Vicky’s turn and so on Puppy stated

That’s a good idea both girls agreed

Puppy woke up a couple hours later to find both girls were fast asleep

Wake up! She barked

Huh? What happened? Vicky muttered sleepily

Oh my god Vicky! They stole your house while we were sleeping Puppy exclaimed

What! Vicky yelled then ran to the window and looked out of it

Gotcha ya! I was only kidding you should’ve seen the look on your face! Puppy laughed

Very funny Puppy! You nearly gave me a dragon heart attack! Vicky frowned

I can’t believe that we fell asleep we better have a quick look around before the boys get here Daisy added looking over Vicky’s shoulder

Then after getting dressed the girls went next door and let themselves in

Well everything seems to be here Vicky said after they finished looking through the house

Hey did you guys hear that? Daisy asked

No

Listen it sounds like someone is walking up to the front door Daisy added. Then as quietly as they could they quickly hid behind the couch

Puppy do you’ve the pepper spray with you? Vicky whispered in her ear

Yah got it right here in my pocket Puppy whispered back

Okay as soon as they open the door you jump out and spray them with it Vicky instructed get ready

A few seconds later Puppy suddenly jumped up from behind the couch and yelled

Hold it right there dirt bag or you’ll be sorry!

Whoa! It’s us! Sammy cried out

Hey what are you guys doing here so early? Daisy frowned

Early? We are making our first round of the place so how did it go last night did anything interesting happened? Sammy answered

Nah I bet that they fell asleep that’s why they are here! Tommy joked

Wrong Tommy I just wanted to pick up a few things come on let’s go in the kitchen. I’ll make you guys some breakfast Vicky smiled

After a peaceful first day the girls were determine to stay awake. They even took a long afternoon nap something that never did before

Hey what I wouldn’t give for a big bowl of ice cream right now Daisy sighed

Hey I got some chocolate bites over at my house but won’t your mom get upset if we went over its kina of late Vicky answered

Nah! We’ll just tell her that you need to pick up some stuff up Daisy answered pulling out a couple of flashlights from her dresser

Hey I was just thinking why we don’t pretend to be burglars and break in Puppy added

Huh? Why would we do that for? Vicky frowned

Practice that way the next time we get a job like this we’d know all the possible ways that a burglar can break in Puppy explained

Oh I get it if we know their secrets then the next time we won’t have to stay up all night! Vicky laughed

A few minutes later they slowly made their way towards Vicky’s house

Okay so now what? She asked

Now we break one of the windows and Puppy began

What! Are you nuts Puppy? We can’t break any windows my dad will kill me if we did! Vicky cried out

Okay then go in and unlock one of the windows and we’ll just pretend that we did Puppy shrugged

Once they were inside Vicky’s kitchen Daisy opened the freezer

Wow! Jack pot! She cried out looking inside of it

We also have a couple of bags of chips inside the side cabinet taking the food to the table Vicky told her

Vicky if you were a burglar what would be the first thing you’d steal Puppy asked her. Vicky thought about that for a moment before she answered

Well first I’d take my x box then probably my computer and I pad she began

Pretty good what else? Puppy asked as she began writing Vicky’s answers down

Shh! Daisy interrupted

What?

I thought I heard something Daisy shrugged

Hey I bet those are the boys they’re probably trying to scare us or something Vicky giggled

They got up from the table and walked down the hall just outside the dining room. When they heard voices coming from inside the room

You see I told you it was them she whispered. But when they opened the door excepting to see Tommy and Sammy standing there. There were two complete strangers staring at them one of the bears that was standing by the dining room table quickly ran from behind to cut them off from the door

Hey what are you kids doing in here? The bear that was standing by the window growled

Holy crap we are busted Puppy suddenly blurted out

Huh?

Well aren’t you guys the cops? Puppy frowned. The bear near the door busted out laughing

Hey Ricky ain’t that something this young pup thinks that we’re coppers!

So you mean you’re not Puppy smirked

Far from it kiddo Rick smiled

Then you two creeps beat it! We were here first she barked

Whoa! Take it easy now kid you mean to tell me that you kids are robbing the place? You don’t live here? He frowned

Hoping that Puppy would want for them to play along Daisy answered him

Who us? Live here? Are you kidding Vicky here got a tip that the old folks that live here were going away. So me and my partners have been checking out the place for the last few days. See we even made out a list of the stuff that we wanted to take

One of the bears snatched the list from her hand and read it. He then walked over towards the other bear and whispered

What are we going to do with these kids?

Nothing for now we’ll just have them help us grab the loot then we’ll lock them up inside one of the upstairs closets or something the other bear shrugged

Hey not bad kid but I’m sure there is plenty of stuff to go around. Why don’t we split it fifty-fifty?

Yah sure I guess so Puppy shrugged

Great then why don’t you lovely ladies show us the way! Rick laughed

And as they took the burglars through the house Vicky pretended to look happy. But the whole time she was worried sick wondering how she was going to explain to her parents when they got home. That she helped two burglars take all their stuff when they were upstairs Vicky walked over to Puppy and whispered in her ear

We’ve to call the cops

How when they are watching us�"

Hey Ricky guess what I just found it’s a small safe inside the kid’s bed room closet

Huh? There’s no--. Puppy poked the side of Vicky’s rib with her paw

What she meant was we never said anything about there being any safe in this house

Well he just did come on I’ll show you kids how to crack it. And even though they knew that there was no safe they had no choice but to go in

It’s just over there he said. Once they were inside they heard the door slam shut behind them

Hey what’s the big idea! Puppy barked as she tried to push the door open

Aww it’s nothing personal kid think of it this way we’re actually teaching you kids a very important lesson Rick laughed

And what’s that? Vicky asked

Never trust anther crook! The other bear laughed harder as he and Rick walked out of the room

I can’t believe those two jerks locked us in here!

Oh give it a rest already Puppy! What are we going to do now? Vicky frowned

Hey I think I know of a way to get us out of here Daisy stated they left the key inside the key hole

So?

Watch and learn Daisy smiled I need a piece of cardboard

Daisy slid it under the door she then took a hanger and poked it through the key hole and hoped that the key would land on the cardboard under the door. The trick worked perfectly

How did you learn how to do that? Vicky asked

Well Puppy isn’t the only one who watches cop shows Daisy laughed

Quick let’s call the police before they come back she added

A few seconds later they were out of the closet and Puppy quickly went over to the phone and called the cops

I’ve to get off now just remember to go around back of the house and wait for us to signal you

Vicky signaled that they were coming back Puppy quickly hung up and told them to jump on the bed and act normal. When the two burglars returned they were surprised to find the girls laughing and goofing around

Hey how did you get out? Rick demanded

Oh we got our ways don’t we girls smiled so why did you really lock us in there

Oh it was nothing young pup we were just testing you the other bear shrugged

Well I guess we passed huh? Okay let’s split the loot so we can blow this place she answered

Sure kid what you kids want? Rick smiled

How bout we break even and you give us twenty bucks Puppy told him

Okay Larry give them the money Ricky told him

Me? Why don’t you give them twenty bucks Larry frowned

Oh for crying out loud fine here you go Rick sighed as he took out the money from his wallet

Thanks it was nice doing business with you guys Puppy laughed

Yah sure now help us take this stuff downstairs and we’ll be on our way

When they got downstairs Rick walked over to and patted her on the head

Thanks for everything kid

Don’t mention it Puppy smiled holding the back door open for them

At the sound of the door opening the police turned on their lights and cried out

Freeze! You’re under arrest!

The bears just stood there with their mouths open and their arms filled with stolen stuff

The next day they told the boys bout what happened

Wow! Sammy cried out

What do you mean wow? I can’t believe that we missed out on all the action! Tommy frowned

Yah but the best part is that now that they’re caught and in jail. Maybe they’ll spread the word around to other

crooks that when you mess with us at the We Always Catch Our Crooks Club you’ll get busted! Puppy laughed
