The Empty RoadA Poem by Jordan Thomas The wind blew for a moment The
mist and fog captured the moonlight And
the ordinarily enlightening rays formed an opaque wall Around
the voiceless street sign that stood erect And in that
moment, the wind blew me by
The empty road stands before me I can see the myriad of stars above me " Tiny pin-pricks of hot gas, illuminating their
nighttime agenda I connect the dots of light and form a picture Of Truth
The empty road traverses my mind I can see the myriad of stars below me " As the nighttime crudely outlines each spot of
light, I can see your perceived worlds, each holding a
piece Of Truth But
the pieces will never be positioned in the right places the form its picture.
Why
am I on this pedestal? I
cannot remember if you put me up here or if I climbed. Regardless,
it’s cold and windy and I can see too many stars from here and it makes me Uncomfortable
and Lonely.
Did
you know your light burns orange? I
cannot tell you if that’s a good color or not But
it’s a color, and that alone is good
I travel the empty road It’s strange how different the dots of light are As far away from each other as they
are from mine And yet there they all are And
yet here is mine Our pieces of Truth all exist together, Alone.
The empty road comes to a dead end. I can see the myriad of stars in front of me I try to connect the dots of light and form a
picture Of Truth But
the dots will not connect with each other They cannot see the Truth of their own existence And
the missing pieces are scattered throughout the night sky Signaling the answer of Truth to the travelers on
the empty road
I reach into my soul and pull out a dazzling light I place my piece of Truth among the rest The blackness envelopes around me And
I walk through the dead end.
