emancipator

emancipator

A Poem by josephine dinnair
"

rescued by a saviour warped with time

"

protect me , throw criminals to the deck

see me strong in my throne of power

persuade me , seduce me, lure me

tho i was entangled in another

but alas!

are my clothes a mask?

swathed from head to toe

burden you take upon yourself

tho incompatible are we

wash me, feed me , secure me

scrape me up off the floor

along with remnants of

my face , my life, my very soul

insides now dead, eroding

cannot harbour life

two rejected spawn from sterile loins

lie begging in the gutter

under the street lamp in bitter rain

pitied but rejected for the

sorry state seen before you

infestation of the mind entrenched

return a lifetime later

on the day of my birth

do you mock?

do you tease?

when actually now you are

weak behind jeers

hysterical absolution released at last

onto my flailing shoulders

to carry for you eternally

i owe you this much

tho to your choice of

perfidious spouse i renounce

never return to me

tis done

two rejected spawns from a sterile loin...def my fav line. This seems like a stream of thought piece, which usually tend to be raw and incoherent, relying more on the strengths of aphorisms, turn of phrases, and imagery then on rhetorical plot or resolution. As such, I have a bias against the word "soul" and "eternally" - I think they sentimentalize the power the piece conveys. I'm also unsure of the "tis" at the end. It is a bit out of place because the rest of your piece is in mod language; however, a part of me likes it because it comes out of nowhere...hmmmm.
