IX. Mother

IX. Mother

A Chapter by Christina Jones

We had decided that it was getting late and that training can begin in the morning after breakfast. I had so many questions and my head was going through every single one of them a million miles per hour. I don’t know how I could get any sleep. My baby is with someone I hadn’t seen in years and all I want to do is just snuggle with her. I seemed to toss and turn for what seemed to be forever. I finally fell out. I felt cold and a shiver run up my back. I went to cover up more with the covers, but they weren’t there. I opened my eyes. I was still in my grandmother’s house. I must have just kicked them off. I felt like someone else was in the room with me. I scanned the whole room with my eyes.  I slowly sat up in my bed. “Hello?” I questioned softly. I felt the coolness on my right shoulder and near my ear. I heard someone whisper, “I know you can do this Eden. Find your inner self. Believe in yourself. You will find your answers soon enough. Just trust in me. Where the flowers meet is where the life restores.” Then it was gone. I felt alone again. I had goose bumps and all the hair was standing up on my neck and arms. All of the sudden there was a bright light. It was so bright I had to cover my eyes with my hands. It seemed to be on top of the dresser. I climbed out of the bed and walked towards it. As I came near it, the light retracted to a dull glow. It was the ball. I picked it up and climbed back into bed. I thought of the whisper I had just heard. “Find your inner self.” I said to myself as I closed my eyes. I held the ball with both hands and took a deep breath. I let my mind go blank. I could feel this light tingle in my spine. I took another deep breath and exhaled slowly. I felt the tingle spread from the tip of my tail bone to the top of my neck. It moved throughout both arms and down through my abdomen. I felt it pulse through my legs and down through my toes. I opened my eyes. I was floating in the air and my body was glowing an orange hue. I felt like I could do anything. My body felt energetic and pulsed with adrenaline, or so it felt. The ball lit back up like it was before. The flowers seemed to be even brighter than the vines and the writing. “Where the flowers meet, the life restores.” What exactly did that mean? I looked at the flowers as I spun the ball around. I saw a spot where the flowers split, where it starts and ends. I noticed there was a split all the way around the ball and it ran right in between the flowers. I tried to spin it to see if it would open. No chance, this sucker was closed tight. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I let my mind go blank. I felt the tingle again throughout my body. I tried turning the ball again while like this. It slowly turned and I felt it open. I opened my eyes. There was a big flash of light and a force threw me to the bed and my body’s glow was gone. I looked up at the light and it was floating above me. It slowly came down towards the floor at the end of my bed. The light seemed to be fading darker. I noticed it was a person’s form coming into view. The light eased to a warm red glow. I lost my breath and stared in disbelief. “Mom?” I said with a shaky voice. The woman standing at the end of my bed raised a hand and the light turned on. “Yes dear. It is me. Your father Kane put me in that ball of fate and tried to keep me there until he found you.” She said with a gentle voice. I couldn’t believe it. “You were trapped in this ball and I just released you? Why would you pass off as dead then? I don’t understand. Why put us through that?” I was feeling a little upset now. “Eden, I didn’t want him to find you. I didn’t want you to be a part of this life. So it was my only option. Believe me if I knew what I know now I would go back and kill him before he put me in that ball, but there is nothing I can do. The only thing I can do is go after him again and try to put an end to this.” I just looked at her. “Well you don’t think Nik and I aren’t going to help you? We are a family and we will take him down together.” “Okay, we will talk more about this in the morning. For now get some rest.” She went to leave the room. “What about the others? They should know your back. ” I said as I climbed back into bed. “Don’t worry I am not going anywhere. They will know in the morning.” She said as she smiled and shut the door. I laid back in the bed. I could not believe all of the things that were happening. Am I sure this is all real? We are Ricanti people. We possess certain powers for the good. We are being pursued by my evil father who wants to end all Ricanti. I have to learn my powers and use them against him in order to bring him down. My mother really wasn’t dead and was being held captive in a little wooden ball that I just opened with magic powers. I feel as though I am going to lose my mind. Why couldn’t this just have been Dixon messing with me. I think I could have processed that a lot easier. I wonder how Nikai is going to take seeing mother alive.
