What is beauty?
A single white flower in a vast green meadow
It rises from the blades of green grass, the clumps of clover and frenzied weeds
Above the green stem sits a yellow medallion and from it, eight slender white petals
Unique in this green, fractaled meadow, the eye is drawn in
A field covered in fresh snow
It glistens as it reflects the sun’s radiance from the deep blue sky
In the sky there is no cloud; below the sky, only snow, no hill, no tree, just the snow, glistening
But I am a pleased to look upon miles of this snow as the sun heats my face and keeps me content
Beauty is not a standard set by society
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
I look at you; I am drawn in by your uniqueness
This beauty you produce; you also reflect the beauty of the Son
You are not beautiful because someone tells you you are
Beauty is innate
Your beauty comes from birth, being made in God’s likeness
Also, it is given to you, as you continue to shine the light of the love of Christ through the Spirit
When I am bored and complacent from the weariness of life
Your goofy self is there to make me smile
When anger or loneliness or cynicism closes in on me
Your overflowing joy makes the darkness flee
You are beautiful because you make me beautiful
I cannot help myself but to love you, and who could resist?
I want to spend the rest of my days with you
Standing in the glowing sunshine of your beauty
Together, our love will melt the snow
It will produce a mighty river that makes a desert green
Many more flowers will grow in that meadow
But its uniqueness will remain, as you stand in its center
