I don't know why

I don't know why

A Poem by jmt8921

I don’t know why,

Why I have a reason left to try,

When everyone has passed me by,

Leaving me to struggle through the night,

Alone and unaided, I try to make it right.

I don’t know why,

Why you have to try,

To lift me up from where I lie,

Let me be, don’t get close to me,

You won’t like what you see.

I don’t know why,

Why it hurts you when I cry,

My pain you seem to share,

But I know you shouldn’t care,

I can’t let you in, I wouldn’t dare,

So give up, don’t waste your time,

This pain is only mine.

I don’t know why,

Why you won’t give in,

Why are you so stubborn?

Is this a game you have to win?

I’m warning you tonight,

Just give up this fight.

I don’t know why,

Why I can’t push you out,

I can’t push you away…

I just want you to stay.

Won’t you stay?

Stay with me.
