Now is not forever

Now is not forever

A Poem by jmt8921
"

A poem about change and suicide.

"

Life is a winding road of pain and pleasure

Because we know what it’s like to hurt,

Every moment of happiness is treasured,

But why is it that when we’re in the middle of so much pain,

We can’t see the future, we feel like things will always be the same,

When life is change. The possibilities have no end.

You’ll always find friends,

Even ones you never knew you had.

Why is it that so many of our generation can feel so much sorrow that they’ll do anything to find an end,

Even if the end is something you can’t take back again?

How can any hurt compare to a lifetime of smiles?

How can any wound be worth ending your world so soon?

It’s something I can’t understand,

How these people can’t find even one helping hand.

So many think they won’t be loved,

So many make that decision.

If they could come back and see,

They’d know how wrong they were,

They’d see the tears of those that loved them,

Only to find it’s too late.

Life is love, and there is always someone there,

You just have to know where to look.

This is a wonderful poem so deep with emotion. I have dealt with suicide. I experienced my uncle's and my great aunt's when I was young. It has effected me my whole life. It changes you to think that at any moment someone could take their own life. The holidays are always filled with an empty space where they should be also.
Great write.

This poem has ALOT of meaning, even though it could be RIGHT THERE IN YOUR FACE, or even hidden beyond the shadows! I loved this poem. It seemed to remind me of an "emo" person, not feeling like they can be loved, and taking their emotions out through slashing their wrists, or whatever. Beautiful poem! It was beautifully written, and you have some good points that you made :)

I think this is such an uplifting and hopeful poem. Thank you for your kind words for all those that are suffering - I would they would read this before making such a decision. Thank you immensely.

i would express the sentence "now is not forever" in regret, rather than in relief.

Oh this is fantastic! It really hit hard as I am the daughter of someone who made this very hurtful choice. Your views on this are right on target, yet though we can't understand how someone could make such a permanent and painful decision, I believe at that moment they were in so much emotional pain they could not see anything else but an escape from it. It's difficult to see when you're in darkness.

If only we knew when this was coming..... the lives we could possibly save.

This is a very powerful and heartwrenching poem. Excellent writing. :)

We all feel hurt and pain in our lives, but like you say "love is always there"
Life is a treasure that we should not take for granted but when we feel so horrible we don't know how to react

Great poem : )
