half moon night

half moon night

A Poem by jmhenry

Its 12:30 with a half full moon, lighting a half mad world

on a mid-June night

The crickets and cicadas and frogs band together in a chorus, with a tempo that lulls you into thinking

it’s the breathing of the dark

Its half past twelve, with a half full moon, lighting a half mad world

on a mid-June night,

The neon flashes in broken tones, in the broken towns where the city people dwell,

the drunks they stagger and the addicts they nod

The beat is fast and erratic, chaotic, symbiotic, neurotic

trying to make it to daylight
