The Boy and the Stars

The Boy and the Stars

A Poem by The Watcher

-Update 2/19/15-
I'm submitting this for my ENGL 205 class.
---
As the sun sat beyond the horizon,
Darkness grew and shadows rose.
With scattering light and calm winds,
A lone child gazed into the sky.

One by one, twinkling stars began to emerge,
Peeking from beyond the blanket of space.
They glimmered with joy, dancing far above,
As the boy spectated their beautiful performance.

Continuing to watch, the boy sat upon the ground,
As cool blades of grass tickled his legs.
"You're all I have left," he said with tears.
"Please, take me with you and erase my fears..."

The child grew tired with every breath,
Lost in a life that made no sense.
With a tear and a smile, the young boy muttered,
"I want to leave... please take me away..."

As the night expired, so did the child.
Forever gone from the world he once knew.
But the following night, high into the sky,
A new star appeared with an innocent shine...

Thank you =)
This is so sweet. The boy's way too young and innocent to be so broken. I love all the meanings entwined into this poem. It's really well written as well. :)

Some will look with pity and misunderstanding. I will look at the stars and smile back as well. It is a nice way to think of it. Every unhappy child is one of those stars now, in the sky.

I never expected the end, great job! I like how this brings you through several emotions and at first you feel bad for the boy, but it all ends very nicely. Great poem!

Thanks Pritesh, kudos to you.
This reminded me a little of "The Little Match Girl" by Hans Christian Andersen. It is vivid and beautiful in its language. lovely work.
