You were real

You were real

A Poem by JM Aytona
"

My first spoken words piece.

"
The night sky i stare at has never been more peaceful as it is now,
what i want to do tomorrow has never been this clear, ever.
to finally know what i want from this dance that only we exist in,
it is about time that i am able to put into words the feelings in which i believe in.

like harsh stormy waves of emotion crashing on a rocky shore in unison
with the winds howling as it bends the branches from where it travels.
or like the gentle drops of rain hitting by the hundreds on your roof
as the sounds lullaby you to sleep as your deepest thoughts unravels.

When all the pretending is done, and when all the lies i tell to myself
loses its meaning and power, as i accept and submit to the feelings
i have towards you, as it takes me over by the hour.
like the first sight of light after weeks of being blinded by
my insecurities, i learn that no matter how hard we try we cannot defeat the truth.

I want you, like the sun wants the moon.
Their dance never ending as they chase each other, stopping only
when one touches the other or when the light dies too soon.

But how lucky they are. for they have a definite beginning and an end.
unlike ours where i type everything my heart says but i dare not hit send.

Yes this is not a love story, this is how something ended before it even began.
how reality strikes too hard and you're left just a man.

Now i understand why the feeling of love is associated with heat or a flame,
love can't be seen, it cant be touched, but it can be felt.
it could keep you warm or scorch you unrepairable with its damage dealt.

This experience serves as a reminder that even the suns heat can run out
before it touches the moon.

Someday, your laughter won't hang in the air anymore,
the sky wont remind me of your eyes,
and the night wont resemble your dark silk hair
no longer will your voice resonate in my head
and your scent will slowly fade away from my bed.

someday i'll forget everything about you,
keeping just one memory of you to remind me,
you were real.

This is beautiful. Thank you for your submission. But this is gorgeous. The way you rhyme, the beat it creates- great job! :)
