Song to HimerosA Poem by martinRFRi conceived the thoughts referred in this sonnet a year ago, only this year i made up my mind for the title, which i find best summing my emotions in words. No matter how much effort to repress Thoughts
of fair Isis' mortal countenance, This
unfortunate bard is then depress('d) Lethe
would not provide the performance He
seeks to wash away the fair image Embedded
and burned in his fickle mind, Even
the wisdom of the revered mage Nay
make all his troubles be left behind, Nor
the larks of the highest breed and their songs Suppress
the longing of his weary heart. What
a fool! To grieve to Lune all night long With
the dregs of passion from fondness dart. The
skies from deep blue to dark crimson hue His
mind shifts till morbid Thanatos due. © 2013 martinRFR |
