Don't let someone control you

Don't let someone control you

A Poem by Ashley

You controlled me, my thoughts, and my body
Like I was a muppet, puppet, ping pong ball
I came right back with black mascara running down my face
I thought it was normal when you love someone to feel more pain than pleasure
Clearly, I was delusional.
I was hurting, broken down
Looking into your blue eyes when you said, "sorry."
Thinking you were the one who needed to be saved
But it was me, it was me!
The one who needed someone
You weren't there, even when I begged
Crying in a white hospital floor wondering where you were
You treated me like I was the peasant and you were the king
The only escape was to cut the strings
I finally let go, you can't harass me anymore
Falling onto the bright green grass with no strings attached
Glazing up into the beautiful cloudy blue sky
I do not need you to control me, I can finally control myself
I am not your w***e, I am not your doll, nor am I your friend
It's the end.

Pretty powerful stuff, and I'm sure there are more people than I'd like to believe can associate with this write. I liked the imagery with the puppet and the strings, I think it worked well. Thanks for sharing.
