Ten Years

Ten Years

A Poem by Joshua Lobdell
"

I wrote this poem the day my divorce became a reality and while I was still in pain from getting my happy divorce tattoo

"

Ten years, I wasted on you

Ten years, of feeling blue

Ten years, of my life now gone

Ten years, spent with a girl wrong

Ten years, I can never get back

Ten years, walking down the wrong track

Ten years, forgetting how to smile

Ten years, spent in utter denial

Ten years, she created havoc for me

Ten years, why could I not see?

Ten years, I tried to make it work

Ten years, of her calling me a jerk

Ten years, glad that it is done

Ten years, the only good, my son

Ten years, of sheer frustration

Ten years, my symbolic castration

A dark litany. Powerful! Is there a sequel, a light litany, of those same years?
