A Whiff of a MemoryA Poem by Jennie LeightonOlfactory Time Travel
Soft piles of fragrance warm from the dryer
Fond memories of the past inspire A little girl surrounded by happy little bubbles Splashing gleefully, squealing incessantly Bathtime on the farm -- always a festivity Pruney fingers and toes finally all clean No longer a joy, showering rushed and cold Preoccupied with fitting into the adult mold The sudden smell of Egyptian cotton sets me free! © 2008 Jennie Leighton |
