"Homeless"

"Homeless"

A Poem by Jason Dyer
"

Brief poem... Notice the first letter of each line.

"

Have you got any change you can spare?

Only got these here clothes I wear.

My home used to be right under there.

Easy to say life's been unfair.

Lonely as I, a friend is rare.

Everyone I know, they don't care.

Steal from a man, I wouldn't dare.

So have you got any change you can spare?

You should insert the word "that" after 'clothes' in the second line.

Also, don't tell people about your educational background in your "about me". Whether you are or are not, it makes you seem pretentious in a bad way.

Nice words on a difficult subject. Some people view them as lazy but some of us know life has been long for them.I love the fact that you write...steal from a man I wouldn't dare because a true homeless person would not steal...only take whatever offering we give
thank you for sharing

I see this all the time, I mean, people without homes begging for change. It always breaks my heart. So often, we become desensitized to this type of situation, look upon these people as common "fixtures" rather than people with stories and lives. I try to think about where they came from, who they are, and their story. Anyway, nicely done...perhaps a few of the words could be sparked up for a little more imagery, but other than that, nicely written.

so sad, so powerful. This my friend , is the song of the homeless population around the world who have done no wrong , yet have been wronged. The world is a cruel place but somehow by writing this you have reinstalled some faith in me. thank you for writing this , truly thank you , amazing poetry

Wow! This is a very true to the heart poem. It just makes it all the more amazing that it's an acrostic!

Hey buddy can you spare a dime .. someone used to say .. The more things change, the more they stay the same ..
Try as we might to survive, sometimes we lose our way ..
Hang on stay true to yourself ..

I like your real thoughts .. Jazz

This is amazing- truly unique. I love that it spells something out, but it's not incredibly noticeable. Very nice job. x

I love your poem! Its simple but fun and it captures the homeless man very well. I could imagine him singing those lines...and yes I did notice what the first letter of every line spelled! very nice. :-D
