flower in the rain

flower in the rain

A Poem by Kurt

we met for lunch
and after some short conversation
i looked outside.
it began to rain.
i smiled with relief and told her,
”it’s a good thing i got
the flowers planted earlier.”
she smiled and told me,
”flowers shine much brighter
in the rain.  the rain washes away
the dirt and brings the color out.”

after lunch and some conversation,
i walked her to the front
of the restaurant.
she covered her head
and walked out the door.
i saw her through the glass
of the door as she
turned to me.
she smiled
and blew me a kiss.

i smiled back
as she ran through the rain
to her car.
she was right.
flowers do shine brighter
in the rain.

Very nicely done. I think the ending is suitable and a good little metaphor.
