Redheaded girlA Poem by J. K. HannahAbout his redheaded girl: You wrote a poem and put it on Facebook I read it slowly and repeatedly I wasn’t sure if it was about me I quickly knew it was your own work, I recognized the style You referred to a Ginger, you capitalized it like that I didn’t know if it was about me You thanked someone for giving you back your laugh You thanked someone for caring about you You said she was great at sex I wasn’t sure if it was about me It hurt me you could make our things so public It satisfied me you’d thought about all I’d done for you I stalked your Facebook and looked for her I found a sign. Another post about Gingers and sex, a cartoon. I followed to the page of a person who liked it. She had auburn hair and familiar eyes. She’s the girl who broke my heart before. The one you put your arm low around and smiled with cheek-to-cheek. The one I had to know about from someone else’s post. Thanks for not making our things public. I guess she does for you what I did for you. I guess you show your love for her more than you showed your love for me. But Baby, don’t ever think just because you wrote a poem about it that we won’t blame ourselves when you finally use the knife. We will all weep forever. For my first love in Colombia © 2015 J. K.
