Dizzy

Dizzy

A Poem by Audrey Bruckner

Sand papered hearts

and shallow breaths

taking each day as it comes

as if there is any other choice

turn slowly to the door

looking back to the dark corners of the room

searching there for visions from the past

visions long lost to the bright lights and expectations

of home life

sitting, staring, at nothing more than empty

drawing broken lines with permanent pen and

watching graceful catastrophies in the mirror

the hand that feeds also starves along the way

while daring moments become shackled by steel chains

walls rising higher

let it in, let it in

the ugly realizations people make

when they allow themselves to feel

yesterday seems so far away,

but the present is too soon

spinning dizzy, nothing to reach out for

inevitably...I FALL
