ThoughtA Poem by Audrey Brucknerwritten in 10 minutes so its very roughyellow lines passing quickly staring, intent to see the activities of other motorists many sing joyously some cry behind the wheel others stare straight looking for the end of an endless road lulled by the monotonous humming of wheels on pavement slowly i slide away drifting into a dead silent void to ponder the breaking point of hearts, and the unavoidable changes sneaking closer, to shatter familier holding my breath as i pass through the tunnel the thought of not exhaling crosses my mind just walk through life always holding my breath for someone to save me from the day to day mundane thinking about the pounding in my head just one more pain on my list blinker on, car off, step out gaze as my roomates and friends see the surface of me but they don't, and never will see who i am © 2008 Audrey Bruckner |
