Insomnia

Insomnia

A Poem by Tara Ghorm
"

I can't sleep...

"
Sleep, the fleeting king of peace, avoids me
Dream ne’er visits my chamber
Only Sight and Distress comfort me
through the hours of dark

Such wretched companions, they are
Driving away Conscience and Beauty
They leave marks on my flesh
and discord in my mind

Oh, Somnus, have mercy on me!
Grant me Rest, grant me Peace!!
These things, these friends,
I so desperately long for...

None should suffer from ills
So easily cured, so quickly remedied!
For I sleep, but I do not rest
For I close mine eyes, but do not slumber

Dearest Sleep, I do bid thee farewell
Til not even my life is left
Til no longer shall I wake
And forever shall I dream...
