Regret

Regret

A Poem by Tara Ghorm
"

I hate the feeling of guilt. I thought I killed my conscience long ago, but I guess I failed. Ah well.

"

Have you ever done something terrible?
Something that made you want to scream?
Well, I want to cut out my tongue.
And I want to die, to melt, to bleed.

Have you ever done something terrible?
And wished you never did?
Promised you’d never do it again?
The act you now forbid?

Have you ever been hurt by friends?
Something that made you want to scream?
Felt guilty; was it all your fault?
Did it crush your self esteem?

I have, I did, and might again.
A stupid mistake from the not so far past.
Well, I want to cut out my tongue;
I hope that I die fast!

I was overcome with emotion
One of them a selfish greed.
But, God, I wish I had said no.
I want to die, to melt, to bleed.

Have you ever done something terrible?
Something that made you want to scream?
Well, I want to cut out my tongue.
And I want to die, to melt, to bleed.

Tara Ghorm
I still hate myself for that dumb mistake! I thought I forgave myself, but I guess I didn't.
