When you gave me your heart, you planted a flower.
When you told me you loved me, you gave me the sun.
When you promised to hold me, you gave me the hills.
When I went away for awhile, you gave me a pet.
For each hand you held when I came back, you gave me a moon.
To remind me that your love is forever, you built me a stream.
When I was worried about the future, you built me the path.
To calm my nightmares, you gave me a cloud.
When you promised to protect me, you planted a tree.
But you couldn't give me the stars.
So, you cut them from paper, tied strings to their middles, and hung each of them up, one by one, just so I could have a perfect world.
