Bad Dreams

Bad Dreams

A Poem by JJ Stellar

I wake up screaming,
my tears bitter from the nightmare
that has stirred me to consciousness.

I long for your arms,
warm and strong
to wrap around me and
hold my pieces together.

But you're not here.
You wouldn't do that for me.
So I whimper and shut my eyes,
hoping my pieces will
mend themselves back together
by the time the sunrise
reaches my window.
