A Thousand Miles To You

A Thousand Miles To You

A Poem by Sarah Katherine
"

It's not my favorite poem or best work for that matter but it is what it is.

"
While lying in my room one night
I found myself on a beach, in the light
you were there, I remember now
we got there some way but I'm not sure how
I looked at you, and you looked at me
you there, my love, are all I could see
I didn't notice the people running around
The only thing I could hear was your heart beats sound
then, "look in your pocket" you whispered to me
I found a paper, it said "For my love to read"
I opened it up, my heart pounded quite scared
Your eyes so intent, you're the only one who cared
No one else saw what I pulled out of the pocket that day
No one else knew what your hand writing would say
they did not see the picture you taped on the page
they did not sense the feeling that only grew with age
Only you saw the look that flew to my face
You readied yourself for my quick embrace
the look on my face was a huge smile
then I remembered you're a thousand miles
away, I woke up and remembered that dream
and the more I thought of it the more real it seemed
I thought of the summer when it was just me and you
And the last time you told me "I love you too"
It's been a while since I've heard that
Since I met you every time I look back
You've been there, ever since I can remember
And I know you know I want you forever
