Laid LowA Poem by JJ EscobarA poem on my experience with humilityIn this moment with nothing to give My pride wants to overcome the deficiency There is no place for the King to live My heart lies in order to gain self-sufficiency In the pit, I must look up to see the way out With no control, I am aware of my need The warrior within doesn't want to surrender this bout A pride fueled by delusion brings me to my knees Yet your Light shines down into my darkness Your Love, too good to be true, humbles me Giving me more than I earned, you are my catharsis In that helpless state, still you give and set me free I don't know what to do or say Your Grace is more than I can ever repay
