Self Fulfilling Prophecies

Self Fulfilling Prophecies

A Poem by JCharo
"

High School memory.

"

Ms. Loopus put a dent on her desk

With elephant hands

Her cheeks turned to red

The temperature rose from her neck.

Amy Fitzpat leaped to Loopus’ aide

To extinguish but (most of all) distinguish

Herself from the delinquent facetious

To the relinquished that painted us malicious

“you deviants derived from the depths

Of delinquency!

Do not place your futures on me

I am not your mommy,”

Loopus yelled.

Then….

Ms. Loopus put her head on the dent n wailed

While Amy Fitzpat rubbed her back

We watched as if Loopus were an actress on stage

That forgot her last line and panicked

And within seconds

The cheerleaders went back to gossip

Mike and I rolled dice off the back wall

While Jorge did a line of cocaine off his desk

All, to help fulfill Ms. Loopus’ perception of us
