Making it Official

That feeling around your finger
that lingers and seems to
represent everything
that's going to be o.k. in life,
it's a physical manifestation
of her embrace in your palm
relating the calm
to our daily strife.

It's the ten years of uncertainty
at moments that seem certainly
at others seem equivocally
vividly pictured
more than the blood that could leak
if I lost my left hand in defeat
without that finger it seems
I'd be spiritually injured.
