Poem: Lot's Wife

Poem: Lot's Wife

A Poem by Joseph J. Breunig 3rd
"

A Christian poem of faith.

"

Not wanting to be rescued
from the twin, sin cities,
she's unwillingly led away
by a man she barely loves and pities.

Unable to follow God's direction
and her husband's leadership,
she succumbs to her heart's lust
for a final look, as the horizon dips.

Governed by Jezebel's spirit,
having forgotten that Jehovah honors His Word,
she's transformed into a pillar of salt
for a life no longer preserved.

Fighting tears from losing his wife
Lot takes careful steps backwards,
to gaze on her form one last time
before with a new life going forward.

excellent writing, i like words describe the feeling of Lot's wife, but how about the feeling of his daughter, when Lot want to give them to the people just to make his guest secure ?
over all i like it. between Judaism & Christianity review not much far different about this moment.

thank for share. Bless

It's nice to read a reflection on how Lot's wife may have felt as they fled the disintegrating Sodom and Gomorrah. I like the easy rhyming of this poem too. There is something hard-hitting about it though. Maybe it's the knowledge of the story. Maybe it's the clipped sentence format that is fitted into the bdbd cadence.
